Who Are UOCAVA Voters?

Uniformed Services Voters include:

  • Members of the active or reserve components of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard.
  • Members of the National Guard and organized militia who are on activated status.
  • Members of the U.S. Merchant Marine, the commissioned corps of the Public Health Service, or the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
  • Spouses or dependents of any of the above individuals.

Overseas Voters include:

  • U.S. citizens who are residents of Ohio but currently living outside the U.S. If they were eligible to vote in Ohio before leaving the U.S., or would have been eligible to vote had they been 18 years or older, they are considered overseas voters.
  • U.S. citizens born outside the U.S. to a parent or guardian who last resided and was eligible to vote in Ohio before leaving the country.
